Michael has been pursuing business opportunities since his earliest days,
starting with paper routes, lemonade stands and speculation in baseball
cards. In 1995, he began his advisory career with the Science Applications
International Corporation (SAIC). He joined the family business in 1999
and launched the Vann Group, where he leads its strategic consulting and
transactional advisory services business.
During this time, Michael has served as a retained strategic advisor to
the owners of several high-impact companies. Michael is called on by
companies to provide assistance with developing business strategies/models
and executing on strategic opportunities such as mergers/acquisitions,
joint ventures and other initiatives. In addition to his business
activities, Michael is the first Vice Chairman of Alden Credit Union
and a member of the Business Growth Center’s Advisory Board.
Kevin B. Vann
Ask anyone who knows Kevin, and they’ll tell you, “Kevin knows business.” With over 30 years of experience, Kevin has owned and operated several successful accounting, consulting and advisory service firms in the Western Massachusetts area. Additionally, he has partnered and joint ventured with individuals and investor groups that have acquired operating businesses and real estate ventures. His business advisory and consulting services are well known and his clients consider him to be a leader in the area of business innovation and creativity. He has been a team leader and key negotiator for acquisitions and mergers with concentrations in real estate, manufacturing, transportation, retail, service groups and food service businesses. Most importantly, Kevin has a gift for identifying business opportunities and for steering clients around risks and onto the path of rewards.
Kevin is as serious about the community as he is about business. He is
active in several area civic and nonprofit organizations as both a fundraiser and
volunteer. His nonprofit activities have focused on benefitting children and
Tara Brewster joined the Vann Group in 2014, bringing with her
20 years of retail experience. She has worked for small, independent
brick and mortar businesses and multimillion dollar wholesalers,
holding positions such as Manager, Promotions Director, Buyer and
Regional Sales Manager. Tara even owned her own successful high-
end men’s apparel business, Jackson & Connor, in Northampton, MA,
which she and her partner sold in 2013 to an employee.
Tara is an expert in the retail sector; she is able to assess where a
business needs attention and determine areas that can bring an immediate
increase in sales and start the profit margin heading north. Her
experience with sales, management and ownership allows her to foster
a connection with both ownership and staff.
